Community hub

Paralowie R-12 School is very fortunate to have a community hub as part of our school.

Our community hub is a friendly, supportive and welcoming environment where adults and families from our school community can join in a range of activities, information sessions and programs. Our aim is to promote healthy wellbeing, active learning, and positive engagement and enable our families to assist in the learning outcomes of their children.

Community Hub activities

The Paralowie Community Hub offers a range of activities that support skill development for all and programs with a focus on early learning. All our programs actively promote social inclusion and engagement.

Our activities include:

  • Adult learning programs and classes – including computing, basic English language skills and citizenship preparation
  • Creche – offered for 2 classes per week – Tuesday and Friday afternoons.
  • Playgroup (0 to 5 years) – offered Thursday mornings during term time.

Information for Families Requiring Language Support

If you need language support, the school can help with the following languages:

Our BSSO interpreters can support families with school-related enquiries about your child’s education. This may include help with school communication, meetings, attendance, wellbeing matters connected to school, and questions about your child’s learning.

If you would like support from a BSSO interpreter, please:

  • Call or text the EALD mobile: 0428 440 247
  • Briefly explain your question or what help you need
  • A BSSO will contact you as soon as possible

BSSOs have set times each day to respond to messages. This means someone may not always be available immediately, but a response will be provided as soon as possible.

Please note that BSSO interpreters are available for matters related to your child’s education at school.

If your enquiry is about a non-school matter, please visit the Paralowie Community Centre off Halba Crescent, where staff will connect you with the appropriate service.

Second-hand uniform shop

Second-hand uniforms are available in our second-hand uniform shop, located in the community centre off Halba Crescent, Paralowie.

Stock is always changing, so it’s a good idea to contact us to see what we have. Good quality donations are welcomed so if you have school uniform items that you no longer need, bring them over and we can sell them for you.

Volunteering

Find out how to become a school volunteer or get help completing forms, applications, school documents or school card applications. We’re here to help – no need to book in.

There are many ways you can volunteer at our school and Community Hub, such as:

  • Governing council
  • Excursions and classroom support
  • Toy Well toy library
  • HIPPY program
  • Playgroup
  • ANHCA Garden Project ‘Play, Grow and Learn’.
